Basement couch and movies we've already seen;
sequels you'd watch even though you never saw the first part,
and you wouldn't watch it unless my smile would convince you otherwise.
And we never faught in anger.
And we never cried in disappointment,
because even though we often failed,
we never ceased to try.
Vegetarian trials and fainting on our best friend's corner.
Crying as you helped me to my feet.
You prayed to God I'd always be healthy,
even on the days I wasn't sick.
Stuffed animals and pillow fights; forts and forgotten bras.
Smiles that lit the darkest alleyways,
even when I waited while it rained.
It never felt like it was raining.
And now you're fat and hate me.
And now I'm fat and hate him,
because he's not one bit like you.
